I wish to provide a few moments of joy for children and their families through this initiative. Seeing children come in and explore has encouraged me to create additional "Wanna Read?" children's rooms in other hospitals. The "Wanna Read?" programme is supported by a community of volunteers and donors and we are grateful for all their help.

Established in 2013, this non-profit organisation creates warm, friendly and stimulating environments in hospitals across the UAE, to help children through their healing and rehabilitation process. Sheikha Shamma firmly believes that an enjoyment of books should be encouraged in all ages and, therefore, “Wanna Read?” aims to promote reading and learning by providing this facility.

The “Wanna Read?” team sets up an area within the pediatric ward, creating a warm friendly and stimulating environment filled with an abundance of books to help the young patients through their healing and rehabilitation.

Our existing “Wanna Read?” rooms in the Mafraq Hospital, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Al Rahba Hospital, NMC Royal Hospital and Healthpoint in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Hospital and Latifa Hospital in Dubai.

In 2016, we opened three (3) “Wanna Read?” rooms in Sheikh Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman and Saqr Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah. Where there is no dedicated child-friendly areas, have made a huge difference to the well-being of the children there.

There are many more hospitals that need our help. Please support us.
